With the recent announcement of the Western release of MADO MONOGATARI: Fia and the Wondrous Academy, we would like to take a brief look at how the series has evolved leading up to the latest entry, along with more details about this dungeon-crawling RPG launching on July 29, 2025!
MADO MONOGATARI: Fia and the Wondrous Academy traces its roots back to the Japan-only disk magazine Disk Station, where some of the series’ mainstay themes and characters first appeared in entries such as Madōshi Raruba and Madō Monogatari EPISODE II: CARBUNCLE. Since then, the series has seen compilations of the original three games, Madō Monogatari 1-2-3, on various consoles such as MSX2 and PC-98, as well as remakes of the first three entries on consoles such as the Game Gear.
Although various installments in the series have introduced stylistic differences, each release has maintained the signature charm that fans have grown to know and love. MADO MONOGATARI: Fia and the Wondrous Academy continues this tradition with distinctive dungeon exploration, endearing characters, and, of course, magic!

Traps and treasures abound as our newest protagonist, Fia, traverses treacherous, randomly generated dungeons in search of the mysteries of The Ancient Magic Academy. A huge part of this world has always been the labyrinths players navigate throughout their journeys. In this upcoming release, the adventure continues. Dodge hazards, battle enemies, and unearth treasures, all in pursuit of becoming a Great Mage! Fans and newcomers alike will need to tread carefully as they delve deeper into the unknown.

Our newest protagonist, Fia, will be joined on her path to Great Mage status by several classmates, each bringing their own unique appeal to The Ancient Magic Academy. Whether they are battling alongside each other in dungeons or dabbling in extracurricular activities like cooking curry or fishing on the school grounds, this loveable cast of budding mages has a lot to offer. They might even encounter some familiar faces along the way!

Mages must show their might in battle. When braving dungeons, Fia and her classmates will need to unleash powerful Magic Artes in real-time, turn-based combat to unlock their true potential at The Ancient Magic Academy. Keep an eye on both your party and the surrounding enemies at all times. Some battles can become frantic, so strategy is the key to victory!
